An iconic Largs building that was once North Ayrshire Council chambers has been sold.

Moorburn House was first listed in September last year and was originally on the market for offers over £1.1 million.

The asking price was reduced to offers over £995,000, and was being marketed by Corum in Largs.

The building was briefly under-offer before being put back on the market, and has now been sold.

The building was controversially sold off by the local authority in 2009 despite pleas from residents who wanted to save it from developers.

The council first bought the B-listed building in 1936 for £7,500 and used it as offices for more than 70 years.

Officials left the building in 2008 and it was put up for sale with an asking price of £325,000.

The building has been a series of private homes ever since before its latest sale.
