A major military exercise is to take place in the skies above Ayrshire this week.
The exercise will include up to eight helicopters stationed from Prestwick Airport including Chinook, Wildcat and Merlin aircraft.
The exercise will run from July 18 to 22 and will involve night flying to train aircrew on night sorties.
The airport says aircraft routing in and out of the airport has been planned to lessen disruption to the public.
