Thistle boss Stuart Davidson has urged his new look side to get off to a positive start as they face Glenafton this Saturday, 2pm kick-off at Barrfields.
Largs have been unbeaten in pre-season friendlies so far but the real test comes this weekend when the West of Scotland Premier League kicks off.
Both Thistle and Glens were resurgent towards the end of last season with good winning runs - and are looking to build upon that as the new season begins.
Largs have mostly a full squad to choose from with the only new injury concern being striker Liam Coogans who is recovering after being in hospital last week with a kidney issue but is expected back in training this week.
The other concern is long term with experienced striker Scott Adam who requires a knee operation.
Largs have added to their raft of new signings to include keeper Jamie Walker, who kept a clean sheet in last Wednesday's friendly against Benburb, and teenage midfielder Lewis Davidson who also impressed in midfield.
Davidson said: "You could see when we beat Glenafton here at the end of last season that in the first 20 minutes they were the better team and they battered us a wee bit - they will be very tough.
"But again we always concentrate on ourselves and how we turn up on the day and how hard we work and what we bring to the game
"We want to get off to a positive start. It is going to be a long tough season again which we are looking forward to but it is always good to get off to a good start which is key.
The crowd can play a big part as they did towards the end of last season which kept us in this league but we don't want to be relying on them at the end of the season; we want them to turn up now and get us off to a good start and for what could be a very good season."
The Largs manager was pleased with the overall play during pre-season and hopes Thistle can take their good form into the season proper.
Davidson said: "All the pre-season games have been good, and we have adapted to the different styles of play we have come against.
I thought Heriott Watt were very good technically with their shape and movement, and it was a good test for us. Jamie McGowan had a good couple of saves which was good from his point of view, but I don't want the opposition to get too many chances.
"We ended up with a few chances ourselves and we could have won it. Scott Lewis was unlucky to see his free kick come off the post at the end.
"As a team we had to work hard to stop their movement; it wasn't the performance attacking wise I wanted to see but they made it hard for us.
"We got the goal when we were pressing them well and Stuart Faulds got the finish but I think we deserved the draw over the piece.
"Pre season is all about looking at different scenarios and we tried out a number of players and the main thing was getting minutes in the legs and getting that game sharpness."
Largs managed a 2-0 win at Tinto Park last Wednesday against Benburb in the penultimate friendly.
Davidson said: "We scored two cracking goals against Benburb. In pre-season we have been hard to beat and not conceding a lot and that was the game was going and then George Sewell cut in and scored a great goal with his left foot.
"And the second goal was a great team goal - we passed it from the back and into midfield and some great one touch stuff before Scott Lewis rounded it off. There is a lot of good football in the team.
"The first part is making sure we are hard to play against and then finishing off the game well.
The Neilston game was a tough stuffy game but we didn't do enough going forward and it finished 0-0 but we addressed that with the Benburb game and we saw bits of its against Heriott Watt where we had some good moves.
"It is all about progressing - we have half of a new team and things are not going to click right away; it is going to take time; but I am pleased with what I have seen so far."
Thistle host Glenafton at Barrfields on Saturday for a 2pm kick-off.
