A cyclist has sadly died on the Haylie Brae this morning after a crash with a van.
Officers in Ayrshire are appealing for information following the fatal road crash at around 6:30am on Wednesday.
Around 6:35am, police received a report of a road traffic collision involving a cyclist and a white Mercedes van on the A760 between Kilbirnie and Largs.
Emergency services attended and the 31-year-old male cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 37-year-old male driver of the van was not injured.
The incident happened on the A760 near to Muirhead Reservoir and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
The road remains closed while crash scene investigators conducted enquiries.
Sergeant Chris Hoggans, from Ayrshire Road Policing Department said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family at this very difficult time.
"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing and we would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or assisted at the scene after to contact officers.
"We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage from around the time of the crash.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 0494 of Wednesday, 10 August, 2022."
