It's Flower Show time!

'Flower Power' has certainly lifted the spirits of everyone, and our glorious gardens in Largs and surrounding area have certainly seen the benefit over recent times.

And the good news is that the annual Largs Horticultural Show is making its long awaited comeback after a three year absence.

The spectacle promises to be a feast of colour and exceptional talent as local growers, flower arrangers, crafters, and bakers come together on August 20 from 10am till 4.30pm at the Dunn Memorial Hall.

With over 400 entries, it is a sight to behold, and on show will be a wide variety of pot plants including fuchsias, begonias, beautiful cut flowers; vegetables, fruit and herbs; floral art; handicrafts; baking and preserves.

The junior section is a must see with miniature gardens, fruit and veg animals, flower arrangements and handicrafts – you will be amazed at the children’s creativity and imagination and it’s sure to bring a smile to your face.

There will be Viking gardens made from flowers, greenery and other natural materials on display as the youngsters compete for the coveted Viking Festival trophy. They also have the Largs Flower Club Cup to compete for with beautifully arranged junior floral art.

Even the local nursery and early learning classes have been busy bees preparing their little wildlife gardens in a window box for the Haylie Stores sponsored class.

The bakers will be contesting their very own West Coast Cakes sponsored bake-off with a decorated cake to be judged.

An excellent raffle will take place – special thanks to all the local businesses and individuals that have contributed to this, the society is very grateful for your support.

Largs Viking Festival will be present with some festival gifts and to let people know what’s on during the return of the festival.
