A man has been jailed after attacking a victim with a glass bottle on-board a train between Inverkip and Wemyss Bay in January.
Ross Wilson, 29, of Hagthorn Avenue in Kilbirnie, pleaded guilty to serious assault and possession of an offensive weapon.
On September 13, a judge at Greenock Sheriff Court sentenced him to seven months and four weeks imprisonment.
On the evening of January 5, Wilson fought with the 23-year-old victim on-board the train before breaking a glass bottle on a table and using it to slash the victim across the face.
BTP Detective Constable Neil Adams said: “This was a vicious attack and I am pleased that Wilson will spend his immediate future behind bars.
“If you’re a victim of, or witness to, violence on the railway, I urge you to report it to us by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40. In an emergency, always dial 999."
