Largs Colts 18 Dean Thistle 2

Largs hosted Dean Thistle on Sunday in what turned out to be a remarkably one-sided affair. Innes McAlindon opened the scoring after seven minutes, when he converted a through ball from Caiden Frew, this was the first of five goals for Innes. With the pressure all going one way Ali Downs pounced on a loose kick out and slotted the ball home for the first of his three goals. Cormac O’Neill made it 3-0 after a great team effort. More goals followed with Scott Rumbold and Caiden Frew both scoring doubles in the first half and Logan Martin popping up from defence to score a rare goal. The First half finished 9-0 and the game was over a competition.
It was more of the same from Largs in the second half, notable moments were Torin McLaughlin scoring an absolute belter from the edge of the box, then hitting the bar moments later, hopefully this will fill him with confidence for future games. Cormac O’Neill finished his double with a superb volley from an Innes McAlindon cross. Smith Irvin scored his first goal, when he netted a rebound from a long-range shot. Dean Thistle, scored two late goals to deprive Largs of the clean sheet and by the time Craig McInroy scored Largs’ 18th goal, everyone was just wanting the game to end.

Troon 1 Largs Colts 5
On Sunday Largs travelled to Troon for their third away league match in a row. Colts started well and had a flurry of chances before finally breaking the deadlock on 15 mins when Caiden Frew played a great ball through for Ali Downs who outpaced the defenders and slotted the ball into the back of the net.
Largs doubled their lead on the half hour mark when Andrew Moore was fouled in the box and Scott Rumbold converted the penalty.
The second half started badly for Colts when a Troon corner led to a stramash and with Largs struggling to clear the Troon striker scored making it 2-1. The two-goal advantage was returned moments later when Caiden Frew scored from the right-hand side of the Troon box. Colts won a free kick 35 yards outside the box, Cormac O’Neill lifted it over the wall, under the bar and passed the goalkeeper, leaving spectators to question if he’d used his foot or a magic wand to score Largs fourth goal. Two minutes from time Ali Downs scored his second, when Man of the Match Caiden Frew slipped the ball along the six yard line for him to knock home. A fantastic team effort and the boys reaped the rewards.
Team: C Hitter, G Duffy, L Martin, L Craddock, C McInroy, I McAlindon, C O’neill, S Rumbold, A Moore, B Rorison, A Downs, S Irvin, T McLaughlin, C Frew, T Stevenson.
Largs Thistle 2008s 4 Galloway Thistle 2008s 0
Largs Thistle 2008s welcomed visitors Galloway Thistle to a sunny Barrfields park on Saturday morning for their second round tie in the Scottish Cup (South West Region).
The proverbial “game of two halves” Largs pretty much had the game won by half-time, starting with a Clark Wallace goal after just 15 seconds, who followed up with his second before the fuve minute mark.
Left winger Jamie Ennis volleyed home a third following a superb Cameron Blair cross to the back post.
Galloway might have expected a similar onslaught in the second half, but it didn’t come – the only real highlights being a 4th goal from Wallace to complete his hat trick, and a Cameron Greenham goal disallowed for offside.
In the end it was a fairly comfortable 4-0 win, with Keeper Morrison Connell achieving another clean sheet for the home side who now progress to round three.
