Police are appealing for information following a fatal road crash on the A78 at Inverkip on Saturday.
Around 11:25pm two cars, a Toyota Yaris travelling south and northbound VW Golf, collided on the A78 near Inverkip.
The 59-year-old male driver of the Toyota Yaris was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he died a short time later.
The driver of the VW Golf, a 22-year-old man, was taken to the same hospital where medical staff describe his condition as serious.
Sergeant Nick Twigg of the Roads Policing Unit said: “We are keen to hear from motorists in the area at the time, particularly anyone with dash-cam footage.
"If you have any information that may assist officers with their investigation, please call police via 101 quoting reference number 3898 of Saturday, 15 October 2022."
