Thistle coach Andy Scott has praised his players for their belief and determination in winning two tricky cup fixtures on the road - and believes it shows the strong character of the side.

It is the first home league game in a month for Largs as they face Cambuslang who are sitting in 15th spot, two places behind Thistle.

Both sides have won one only one game in eight - so the importance of this weekend's fixture is huge as you certainly don't want to be left behind in this highly competitive 16 team division.

Largs are hoping to have wing wizard Sean McLeod back in training but midfielder David McGrath requires to see a specialist regarding his long term foot injury.

Midfielder Craig Forbes has had surgery after a road accident.

Scott said: "We haven't heard much but we know he is in hospital and we just hope he is alright."

Striker Scott Adam has had his knee operation and depending on how he recovers could be back in contention at the end of the year.

Coach Andy Scott believes Largs can take the positives from the cup wins into the league said: "The boys started the Beith game well to go two goals up and after Beith went 3-2 up, we showed great character and resilience to win 4-3.

"There is some real character in the side, and you can't fault the boys for their effort.

"We also worked hard in the second half to get over the finishing line against Ardeer who were difficult to break down with a 5-4-1 system on a heavy pitch in a match which was never going to be pretty.

"Every game in this league is tough and we are expecting another difficult match against Cambuslang.

"We have to show these teams respect as every side is capable of beating the other in this league and that is what makes it so compelling week.

"However, we are looking for the three points and feel that we have shown in recent games that we are more than capable of getting a good result."

Striker David Ramsay was suspended against Ardeer and a big loss.

Scott said: "Ramsay is going to be a massive asset or us - we watched him a few times before he signed with us and he creates a lot and scores chances.

"He does a lot of unselfish running too."

Speaking about the Ardeer cup win, Scott said: "We always knew it was going to be a tough encounter with the heavy pitch, and Ardeer played with a five men defence and four in midfield, but I felt we didn't do enough in the first half - we were too pedestrian.

"The park was heavy but I still felt you could move the ball about and we could be sharper and to be fair to the boys they upped it in the second half and we got through - it was never going to be pretty with that amount of rain on the surface.

"Since Ryan McCreath signed for us he has improved week after week and he scored in pre-season so it was good to see him score against Ardeer.

"Stuart Faulds played a big part in that goal winning possession and getting over the cross - he is another one who has been consistent all season and when he is on the ball he makes things happen for us.

"You need to battle in these games - you are not just going to turn up and run over the top of them.

"I thought Scott Lewis did well up front for us and kept working hard throughout the 90 minutes.

"The own goal came about through Scott putting pressure on the Ardeer defence - and it was some finish from the boy!

"You are trying to force mistakes from the opposition when the pitch is the way it is with all the heavy rain.

"It was a different test after our comeback victory against Beith last week."

* Also on the comeback trail were Largs Thistle Amateurs who triumphed against Kilmarnock United at Barrfields Park on Saturday.

Killie were leading 2-1 but Thistle AFC turned the game on its head to win 4-2 with goals from Glen McTaggart x 2, Lloyd Dicks and Cammy Florence.
