Largs are through to the first round of The West of Scotland Cup.
It was not a great performance in the preliminary round by all accounts which surprised me as I thought the team would have been on a high after last week's result but they got there - and that is the most important thing.
The squad again looked thin and that is a problem. The OG though for Largs second goal was a topper - what was the defender thinking? I scored a topper of an own goal myself against Jim Marner.. The ball come over from a corner against us I am thinking, I am under pressure here and should just knock it past the post for another corner.
Left foot volley straight into my own goal, the keeper had no chance. Over 40 years later and Jim Marner still talks about it. It was some finish though.
And just a few miles away from Ardeer, Kilwinning Rangers also scored a spectacular own goal from distance as they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup against Forfar Athletic.
Lots of discussions about CR7, was he right or wrong to refuse to go on as sub. For me he was wrong, if you are there you go on. He might have disagreements with the manager but once you are selected you go do it for your team mates. Players who are sub do have discussions about going on but usually when the team is getting well beat.
You might have the 'hope he does not put me on' discussion at that time but if asked you go do your best.
I am a Ronaldo fan and I feel he still has a lot to offer. It does surprise me that Manchester United are not playing him more.
The World Cup is just the occasion for him to go show what he can still do. I am looking forward to see if he does perform.
Well what about VAR in Scotland? A few controversial decisions in the Hearts v Celtic game. VAR is here to stay so we just need to get used to it. Things are never going to be clear cut as the subjectivity is still there .
Hopefully the process of reviewing the incidents will get quicker as it just takes to long with too much standing about. Let’s get on with the game. I am sure thought there is a lot more controversy to come!
And it is a big match on Friday night on BBC Scotland as Morton, who are unbeaten in the last four, host Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Championship, which should be a cracker.
