Largs Thistle's match with Cambuslang was abandoned after only 22 minutes of play.

The referee blew his whistle three times in quick succession as high winds were given as the reason for the abandonment.

Largs players went back out to train after the decision was made.

Cambuslang had the wind behind them and had the two big chances of the game with Ryan McCreath clearing off the line and a long range shot wide.

However Largs were starting to get a grip of the game and were making some inroads despite the wind obstacle.

Manager Stuart Davidson said: "It happens quite a lot at Barrfields that at 2pm the wind machine comes on but it dies down - and I thought we were coping well with it.

"The players were fine, and Cambuslang were fine to continue as well, and we asked the referee to give an extra five or ten minutes but he didn't want to.

"I have seen it a lot worse and we have continued and being on the west coast of Scotland it is part of the game.

"The Cumnock game was the same earlier this season and we played on.

"From a club perspective, we are losing out on money as we have all the pies in the pie stall having not been touched and all the food and drink, and times are hard right now.

"I don't think we gave it enough of a chance."

"I was looking across the pitch and it was a really good turnout- and I feel for the fans as they got kicked out 20-25 minutes in.

"The referee just said it is too much, he had had enough and it wasn't happening and it was his decision.

"The referee said that we were having to play it out from the back but I thought we were coping well with it and with the wind in our favour in the second half we would be looking to capitalise.

"We were starting to get the ball down well and spray some good passes about.

"A win against Cambuslang would have helped get us up the table, but unfortunately now it is another game that will have to be rescheduled for a later date."
