Bellfield 2 Largs Colts 6

Colts took a Halloween trip to Kilmarnock on Sunday looking to shake off the cobwebs of two weeks without a match.
Caiden Frew came close for Largs after nine minutes when he had a shot go just wide, an omen of things to come.
Scott Rumbold opened the scoring when his strike from outside the box took a wicked deflection and left the Bellfield goalie rooted to the spot. Having knocked on the door a few times Caiden Frew finally opened his account when running onto a through ball he chipped the keeper. Largs ended the half 2-0 up.
Bellfield came out all guns blazing in the second half and forced a magical save from Colts goalie Connor Hitter. However, Largs increased their lead when Innes McAlindon volleyed home from a bewitching corner that found him free at the back post.
The hosts pulled one back when they scored from a free kick on the edge of the box. Fortunately, this would not come back to haunt Largs as Craig McInroy scored from the restart when his powerful run terrified the Bellfield defence and he hit a screamer from the edge of the box making it 4-1.
Moments later, McInroy almost scored again with a blistering shot that caused the goalie to fumble and Ali Downs was first on the scene to net the rebound, 5-1 Colts. Scott Rumbold must have used some magic when he took a free kick from comfortably 40 yards out and drove it straight into the top right corner making it 6-1 to the visitors.
Replacement Largs keeper Tom Stevenson made a great save late on but some nightmare defending from a corner allowed Bellfield to claw one back, but there wasn’t enough time left to really scare Largs and the game finished 6-2.
A Spooktacular performance all round, some great ghouls and a strong victory against a very good Bellfield team. Niko Doolan was coaches’ Man of the Match, he was solid in midfield and dropped to defence later and had some important blocks and clearances.
Largs will be looking for more fireworks next week when they host Kilwinning Football Academy on Sunday at Bowencraig KO 11:30
