THE public are being invited to a series of community engagement events to map out the future of the derelict tennis courts at Douglas Park.

The first event is taking place at Douglas Park Bowling Club pavilion on November 21 between 6.30 and 8.30pm, with another on November 28 from 2 to 4pm.

As recently reported in the News, both Largs Tennis Club and the Largs Community Growers are looking to divide and share the site, as well as inviting others to get on board.

Wendy Low Thomson, of the growers' group, said: "We had quite a number of people who have expressed an interest and it would be good to see them at either of these meetings."

The tennis courts were built in 1920 and were regularly used to host the Ayrshire Club Championships in the 1950s and 60s.

Interest in the courts has peaked following the successful launch of the Douglas Park Project, which saw volunteers Wendy and Caroline Le Good Morgan rally a team of volunteers to transform the area as part of a stunning restoration project.
