AN amenity housing project at the former Largs Police Station has been delayed over heating system queries.
The contractor has commenced work on site to deliver 12 new flats at the former Largs Police Station - but now the project will run late into next year.
However, at this week's North Ayrshire Cabinet meeting, it was confirmed that the completion date for the project has slipped by eight months 'due to analysis being undertaken to determine the most cost-effective heating option for future tenants'.
As we recently reported, the project is to be named after a prominent businessman with links to some of the town's most iconic places.
The new £2 million development is to be named after John Stewart, who counted world renowned architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh as a close friend.
North Ayrshire Council acquired the site in Court Street from Police Scotland in March 2020 and the project will eventually bear his name in tribute to one of the town's most celebrated sons.
