British warship HMS Richmond was spotted from Largs this afternoon by excited locals.
The Royal Navy vessel was on its way up the Clyde, possible in the direction of Glen Mallan on Loch Long for replenishment.
The Type 23 frigate was most recently posted to Oslo alongside aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth.
HMS Richmond has 185 personel on board, and can travel at a top speed of 28 knots.
Earlier this year it was in the news at it shadowed Russian naval vessels close to UK waters.
