Largs Thistle legend George Wall's weekly column as he reflects on penalty controversy at Beith, the world cup, and an Ayrshire junior icon.

Largs have now lost three league games in a row. I have always thought if you go four games in a row you are relegation candidates.

So the next league game for me is a must win against Petershill on December 17 and the good news is that Largs have home advantage.

I agree the referee had a big influence on the loss against Beith however heads up and go win the next game.

In my opinion the majority of refs now are just not good enough but no game without them.

Along with Jim Marner, Ross Findlay and Peter Monan I was invited to talk at the Medda Wednesday Club.

It was a great afternoon talking about the old days. I played with Peter and Jim but not Ross. Ross played for Darvel, Whitletts and then Auchinleck for 14 years.

What an icon of Ayrshire Junior Football. Although myself, Jim and Peter all had Scottish Cup success Ross won it five times.

The stories were all about the 'good old days' but talk came around to what do we think of the WoSFL and where do we think it will end up.

We thought there needs to be change with the winner of the league getting automatic promotion.

One other concern was teams like Largs getting left behind as they do not have the funding to get the SFA Licence. Could it be in the future you get into the top WoSFL division because of your ground and not because of your football success ?

We are in the knock out stages of the World Cup and so far despite the surprise results in the group stages it look like the usual suspects are going to be there or there about.

Phil Foden has came into the England team and is doing well as is Mbappe of France who is still my man of the tournament at this time.

I would have loved to see Senegal beat England but not to be. After England scored it looked like Senegal just gave up.

It has been an exciting World Cup full of drama, great goals and excitement.
