Largs Thistle legend George Wall looks forward to this weekend's big finale in Qatar

We are in for a real treat this Sunday.

When my favourites Senegal went out I was hoping for a Portugal v Argentina final just to pair CR7 against Messi.
I think that would have been a great send off for both players as I am sure in four years time they will not be there.
CR7 as usual attracting all the controversy which I think affected his game.
I thought he could have put it all aside but did not happen.
Messi, where would Argentina be without him. He attracts opposition players to him leaving space for others and he delivers.

Messi has announced he will be bowing out of the international game after Sunday's showpiece occasion in front of a worldwide audience, win or lose.

Morocco have been great to watch with a real excitement and flair about their play from overhead kicks to last minute challenges -they were the surprise package of this year's World Cup and pushed Les Bleus all the way. It was excellent game with both teams really digging deep at times to produce some excellent football at times.

So France V Argentina - what a mouthwatering finale and let's hope it is every bit as good as their quarter final meeting in 2018.

In the quarters, I could not understand why Netherlands changed their tactics v Argentina in that at 2-0 down they put the big guys up front and started putting crosses into the box. It worked, it got Argentina on the back foot and brought them back into the game so why change it when they got it back to 2-2?
For me the World Cup started slow but is fair warming up as we go along. I am now really looking forward to the final.
As for Harry Kane missing the penalty along with those other players that have missed them over the course of the tournament. I can relate to them . I missed three penalties for Largs, one against Auckinleck Talbot ( although I must say Ally Wilson who I played with at Irvine Meadow made a great save ) , one against Saltcoats but the one I still think about is against Dalry, semi final of the North Ayrshire Cup 1991, game goes to penalties into sudden death and I lift my head when taking the kick and the ball sails over the bar. Harry Kane will certainly remember his miss for years to come as I do.
Largs v Petershill on Saturday and Largs really need the three points. As well as improving their own points total it will keep Petershill down the table.
It’s going to be a hard game as Petershill have came into form under their new manager Ian Currie.
Ian is very much “old school” and gets the most out of his players.
One to watch is Del Hepburn a really good player.
