Concerns over the state of the road which is 'starting to break up' have been made to the road authorities.
Independent councillor Ian Murdoch has explained that a burst water main has caused problems on Irvine Road between Pencil View and Rockland Park this morning.
Ian said: "I have reported it several times and I have been informed this morning that repair work is about to start."
