So with all this in mind, pop on a warm jacket and get out there and explore what Largs and the surrounding area have to offer this winter.

If you're looking for a long walk by the sea to take in the surrounding area's stunning coastlines, then this popular route has you covered.

Starting from Lunderston Bay, you can expect (if the weather is good) to see right across to nearby Argyll and Bute while exploring areas like Kip Marina.

While the site is great for solitude, the coastal walk should only be attempted if the weather is good.

Largs Marina to Skelmorlie

This route is moderately challenging but allows walkers to check out the North Ayrshire and Inverclyde coast.

The route is partially paved making it more suitable for winter walking but as it is coastal, it would be advisable to wear warm clothing and be mindful of the weather and track conditions.

The route also passes through some historic sites including Skelmorlie Castle which dates back to 1502 and was the seat of the Montgomery Clan.
