It was certainly Viva Las Vegas with the return of Elvis to Largs on January 2's showcase of live music.

Various pubs in town hosted live bands as revellers came out in their droves in the long held tradition in the town going back down the decades.

It is traditionally one of the busiest days to kick off the new year and it was first time the popular event had been hosted in three years due to the pandemic - and people couldn't wait to get out and party on the big day.

Scott Glasgow of the Largs News Camera Club was impressed with the entertainment on offer.

He said: "Largs big night 2nd Jan 2023 appears to have been a big success with people being turned away from pubs which were full to capacity.

"There was some great live music on which I sampled The Three Reasons, The Waterside, and Room."

Sharp's Bar in Nelson Street saw the music begin as early at 11.30am and they had a full day showcase including Jeff Jeffrey, Rheumatoid Rockers, Filthy White Suit, Blue Horizon and Best Bad Influence.

In a message from the owners Nick and Sara Veitch, they said: "Thank you for all of your custom over the last few months we have been open.

"It's been crazy and memories have been made! Here's to many more! All the best in the new year, from Sharps Largs."

And The Waterside Bar hosted the return of The King - Elvis Presley - and Deville rounded off the live music showcase at the Waterside Street establishment.

Room Bar also had a full festive line-up including the Howie Four, The VLs, Papa Booch and The Amigos, The Belters and Crisis.

It was a busy period over the festivities with their annual Big Vern and the Shootahs gig, and live music on Hogmanay from the VLs.
