LARGS Amateur Operatic Society have announced the cast list for their production of hit musical Calendar Girls.

The much-loved tale about a group of ordinary women in a Yorkshire village who strip for charity is the group's follow up to 'Fiddler on the Roof', which was a sell out success at Barrfields Theatre last year.

Experienced actors who have been treading the boards locally for decades have already signed up for the show, including Pat Nicol Andy Park and News columnist Drew Cochrane.

The show is coming in March and marks the 75-year milestone of performances for the society, which praised the calibre of talent coming through the doors at the recent auditions.

Their spokesperson said: "We have our cast for Calendar Girls The Musical.

"Thanks to everyone who auditioned, the standard was exceptionally high.

"The production team are now looking forward to getting started."

The cast is: Annie - Kirsty Campbell, Chris - Sharon Tucker, Cora - Morag Robertson, Jessie- Pat Nicol, Celia - Sarah Campbell, Ruth - Lynsey Ewing, Marie - Fiona Rodden, John - Andy Park, Rod - Michael Lyden, Colin - Drew Cochrane, Denis - Allan Milligan, Danny - Joseph Teaz. Tommo - Jack Harkness, Jenny - Julia Coulthard, Brenda Hulse - Donna Laing, Lady Cravenshire - Vicky McGregor, Miss Wilson (Tea) - Lynne McCabe, Miss Wilson (coffee) - Jacqui McAllister.

The heart-warming comedy follows a group of ordinary women to who decided to create an artistic nude calendar to raise money for charity.

The true story kicked off a global phenomenon, with groups and charities everywhere bearing all for their own calendars for good causes.

It also spanned a a record breaking movie, stage play and musical written by Tim Firth and Gary Barlow.

It will be the latest in a string of ambitious society shows which have included Kiss Me Kate, Me and My Girl, Brigadoon, Oliver, Oklahoma, My Fair Lady and Sister Act

It will perform at Barrfields from March 22 to 25, including a matinee showing on the last Saturday to enable Millport theatregoers to get the opportunity to travel across.
