George Wall is a weekly columnist on footballing matters, having played for Largs Thistle, Irvine Meadow and Kilbirnie Ladeside...

FIFA are requesting each country names a stadium in honour of Pele. I see there has been a clamour to get Pele recognised for his visit to Troon in the 1960s, and there has been talk that Portland Park should be renamed Pele Portland Park. I think it would be a wonderful thing to see and would help bring supporters from all over the world to Ayrshire.

It was a disappointing result for Largs at the weekend, although a point away from home is never bad. With Largs having played 14 games in the league which is more than everyone except Petershill who have played 15 they really need to put points on the board with the possibility of three teams being relegated. Unless they go on a amazing run it does look like Cambuslang and Petershill will be relegated but if it goes to three down Largs could be in that battle. The way things have gone with injuries I think Arnie has done a great job this season getting them to where they are. It could not have been easy on him . The job is 24 x 7.

Well the Sewells are no more at Largs Thistle with William leaving in the summer for Stenhousemuir, and now George is away to Premiership rivals Cumnock. What an impact the twins made at Largs. If George wanted to go then there was no point in keeping a player who wanted to leave - good luck to him except in games against Thistle!

There is lots of debate this week about VAR and 'conspiracy' theories. For me no conspiracies just bad referees and it is the laws of the game that are confusing. I wonder how many of the pundits and players have actually read the laws of the game. I did once though get a ref into a team meeting to talk to the players, explain some of the laws and also to tell them what actually wound up a ref - I think it helped.

Wolves were considered very lucky when their 'winning goal' at Liverpool was ruled out on the Saturday evening game. And what about little Stevenage upsetting Premier League giants Aston Villa in a dramatic late comeback. It was without doubt the result of the weekend in the FA Cup.

In Scotland, both Rangers and Celtic recorded good wins against Dundee United and Kilmarnock respectively, while Aberdeen got a vital win against St Johnstone.
