A set of BT traffic lights in Fairlie have been jammed at red this morning - sparking traffic chaos.
There is currently a traffic jam between Fairlie and Largs - with motorists having to turn back and go via the Haylie Brae.
Independent councillor Ian Murdoch told the News he has had numerous calls from constituents and contacted Police Scotland, Amey Roads, and North Ayrshire Council Roads department concerning the problem.
He told the News that all the agencies are aware of the problem in terms of trying to get the matter fixed.
Ian added that BT who are responsible for the traffic lights have come out to fix the matter.
Motorists have told the News it has taken them 50 minutes to get through. The jamming of the red light was first reported at 8am this morning by village residents.
