Households in Scotland will be paid to use less electricity this evening in a test by the National Grid.
The scheme will run from 5pm until 6pm and those who are signed up will get discounts on their bills if they use less during that time.
26 providers are signed up, including British Gas, E.ON, OVO Energy, Octopus Energy and EDF.
Customers will get an email if they are eligible, and can get a discount by delaying tasks such as using the oven, washing machine or charging their electric vehicle.
National Grid says savings by customers could range from a few pounds to £20 depending on their energy usage
