Largs Thistle legend George Wall's regular football column...

It was great to see Largs getting the three points away to Cumnock, a brilliant result.

It was also great to see Scott Adam back, sitting 10th in the league at the half point for them things are getting better.

I would expect them to pick up three points at Petershill although it won’t be easy.

I was at the Irvine Meadow v Troon game at the weekend and some “Medda” fans were talking that their team are possible relegation candidates, that brought back to me how competitive this league is.

Having watched the “Medda” game and although they won I am surprised they let Jamie Martin leave for Largs. Medda’s loss Largs gain.

I don’t see either side being better than Largs although Medda’s centre forward Callum Graham stood out.

I was at Meadow Park to honour Alan Johnstone a former team mate of mine at Meadow who died recently .

Alan also managed Meadow and the club held a memorial for him with his family and friends in attendance .

A really good player and a great character. As you can imagine it was 'all our yesterday’s' from old players.

What a result for Darvel against Aberdeen. They really deserved it . Maybe the SFA will take notice now of what can be achieved at the lower levels. Auchinleck also put Ayr out a few seasons ago so not a one off from the lower leagues.

I think the SFA should open up the pyramid in that the winners of the WoSFL should go straight into the Lowland League and the winners of the Lowland League go straight into SPFL2.

If playoffs required then work something out with runners up and 2nd bottom of SPFL2.

Other option I guess would be make the Lowland League SPFL3 and bring in a governing body for the whole of the pyramid, top down. The SFA need to stand up and be counted here.

Outstanding, what else can you say about the people of Largs and the surrounding communities.

The money raised for Alara through the 24 hour footballathon has been magnificent. I know the family cannot thank you enough.

It just shows you what football can do. It gets into the blood of everyone and when managed correctly look at the good it can do .
