Largs Amateur Operatic Society have released a new promotional video for their upcoming production of the eagerly anticipated Calendar Girls.

The much-loved tale about a group of ordinary women in a Yorkshire village who strip for charity is the group's follow up to 'Fiddler on the Roof', which was a sell out success at Barrfields Theatre last year.

Experienced actors who have been treading the boards locally for decades have  signed up for the show, including Pat Nicol Andy Park and News columnist Drew Cochrane.

Largs very own Lynsey Ewing is taking up the role of Ruth and has given a special introduction for the play.

She said: "It is an emotional rollercoaster - there is laughter, tears, happiness and sadness and you will be moved beyond moved. Get your tickets -and choose your seats wisely!"

The heart-warming comedy follows a group of ordinary women to who decided to create an artistic nude calendar to raise money for charity.

The true story kicked off a global phenomenon, with groups and charities everywhere bearing all for their own calendars for good causes.

It also spanned a a record breaking movie, stage play and musical written by Tim Firth and Gary Barlow.

It will be the latest in a string of ambitious society shows which have included Kiss Me Kate, Me and My Girl, Brigadoon, Oliver, Oklahoma, My Fair Lady and Sister Act
