Largs Thistle and Ayrshire footballing legend George Wall gives his view...

I have concluded signing talks with the Largs Thistle 35’s and I am there for another season.

The team are looking for a sponsor for new strips, great opportunity for a local business, get in touch.

While it was a horrible result for Largs against Petershill on Friday night the good news was that all the teams about them in the league did not win either so not much to worry about there.

The team just need to keep their heads up with important home games coming.

Although I did expect Largs to pick up all three points against Petershill it’s a hard place to play football.

It was good to see a full squad available also, that will make a difference in the forthcoming games.

At the top of the table Darvel after their slip up against Arthurlie are leading the way still with Beith who I thought would struggle this season on a great run right behind them.

Auchinleck with four games in hand to Darvel and Beith also on a great run of wins in the league.

The Non League Radio show this week featured Alex Anderson secretary of Largs Thistle, it was a good episode.

Looks like people have stepped forward to join the committee I just hope they are bringing what is needed to the table.

Alex mentioned how they wanted to be a community club and are looking at expanding the teams.

What I would say though is concentrate on building a successful first team, make that the priority.

The transfer window is now closed in the big leagues - much to do about nothing for me. What worries me is the number of foreign players coming into the leagues.

I read an article that stated out of 36 players signed in January in the Premiership only seven have been Scottish.

Should the three foreigner rule be brought back to Scotland to help out the national team?

And what a goal at the weekend from Stephen Humphrys of Hearts, a 50 yard screamer, it is not often you see that.
