LARGS Thistle manager Stuart Davidson has called on fans to make Barrfields Park 'a fortress' going into a crucial triple header of home games.

The boss is hoping for a bumper home crowd this Saturday to cheer on his side to victory with a scrap developing to avoid the bottom three spots.

Arthurlie sit in 11th position on 17 points with a game in hand over Largs - making Saturday's game crucial for both.

Thistle suffered an unfortunate defeat at Petershill last time out and Davidson says there were positives to take from the game.

He said: "We started the game really well and we had a lot of pressure but ultimately we didn't do enough.

"Petershill went up the park and scored and then we are 2-0 down and missed a penalty.

"To be fair to the boys they reacted very well and we were very unfortunate in the end not to get something from the game."

Davison added: "At the end of the day, defensively we were too far open, even if we were chasing the game but I do feel the boys can take something away from it.

"We had large spells of possession and showed plenty of character to get ourselves back into the match as a contest.

"However, we can't go away and concede three goals. We have to keep clean sheets and be solid at the back and the forwards need to get us an early goal in the game when we are on top."

Looking ahead to Saturday, Davidson said: "You just need to look at Arthurlie beating top of the table Darvel, and then Cambuslang beating Arthurlie. It just sums up this league right now.

"Both ourselves and Arthurlie are hurting after last week's defeats and eager to make amends - so it has the makings of good game."

"We need to be winning more of our home games to make Barrfields a fortress again. That will be key over the next wee while."
