The SNP Branch in Largs and Fairlie have hailed First Minister Nicola Sturgeon for 'keeping Scotland at the forefront'.
They have praised her commitment and endeavour in the role as First Minister and for her time in frontline politics spanning 20 years.
Nicola Sturgeon announced yesterday that she would be stepping down as First Minster of Scotland.
In a statement issued today, The Branch said "While we were saddened by Nicola's resignation yesterday we were also filled with pride and admiration for a woman who has given the last 8 years of her life to the highest political office within the Scottish Parliament.
She has endured very much throughout that tenure, but more importantly she has presided over some of the most socially progressive policies of any country in Europe, and kept Scotland at the forefront of change and always had the best interests of the Scottish people but also anyone who chose to make Scotland their home.
Everyone at SNP Largs & Fairlie would like to extend our utmost gratitude and thanks to Nicola for all her relentless hard work. Whatever the next step of her journey holds for her we have the greatest faith that she will continue to do it with the same class and dignity she has conducted herself with throughout her political career.
Thank you, Nicola.
