Largs Thistle 1 Clydebank 2

Largs Thistle lost out against old foes Clydebank in this see-saw West of Scotland Premier League clash.

Clydebank featured three ex-Largs players in their starting line-up including former Largs skipper Creag Little, midfielder Larry McMahon and striker Nicky Little.

Largs took the lead with just over twenty minutes left thanks to a quality David Ramsay strike but Bankies netted twice in the last ten minutes after a Nicky Little double to wrestle the game away from Thistle's control.

Thistle opened strongly in the first half downpour with a string of early corners and good possession play putting the Bankies under early pressure.

A quick turn and shot from Ryan McCreath flew over the bar in one such attack, while Lewis Davidson also went close as Largs continued to show urgency. See clip below.

Clydebank were capable of converting defence to attack in a lightning breakaway which required an excellent save from Jamie McGowan to deny Bankies the opener.

As half-time approached, Largs again pressed Clydebank with Simon McBryde and Jamie Martin carving out some good opportunities but to no avail, while David Ramsay and Lewis Davidson both went close.

A header from Bankies' Creag Little smashed off the Largs crossbar early in the second half but Largs moved ahead on 69 minutes after a composed strike from David Ramsay after good build up play from Thistle, and nearly added a second moments later.

Bankies big signing Nicky Low entered the fray after replacing McMahon and Clydebank were creating some dangerous attacking moves with a Largs clearance off the line and more good McGowan saves.

Nicky Little equalised from the penalty spot on 80 minutes after a Thistle handball in the penalty box.

And it was Little again who notched the winner on 89 minutes after hooking the ball into the net at the far post after a Kelly assist to send the large travelling support into raptures.

A tactical foul by Largs sub John Tennant saw red as Clydebank attempted a late breakaway in stoppage time.

Stuart Davidson felt his side deserved more out of this encounter and his team could hold their heads high for pushing Clydebank all the way - and felt the visitors were lucky to keep eleven men on the pitch in a fiesty finale.

It was a high quality encounter and Davidson believes there is much more to come from his side this season with ten league games left for Largs.
