Thistle are 'definitely moving in the right direction' after pushing Clydebank all the way, and have another big home game this Saturday

Largs boss Stuart Davidson is upbeat going into the final ten league games of the season - starting with a cracker against Petershill.

Both sides contested a thriller in Glasgow last month with the city side finishing on top 3-2 but Davidson believes Largs are getting stronger and can put on a solid display.

Largs are sitting in ninth position in the West of Scotland Premier League with Petershill currently in 14th position in the 16 team league.

Davidson admitted that he was 'gutted' for the team after Clydebank staged a late turnaround on Saturday to win 2-1.

He said: "Looking at the displays the last few weeks, we are definitely going in the right direction.

"We were unlucky not to take anything against Clydebank, and I took a lot of positives from the game.

"I thought we performed well against Petershill the last time and we need to make sure we defend better

"If we perform like we did against Clydebank we will win more of those kind of games than we lose- and we are looking for another big home crowd to cheer the boys on."

Largs are sweating over the fitness of Cory Hughes who had to come off the field of play with a knee injury, while their other defender Connor McGoldrick has still not returned home yet from America.

Reflecting on the display against Clydebank, Davidson said: "I think we are very unlucky to get beat there

"I am gutted for the boys coming in as losers as I thought they put in a great performance against a good Clydebank team who are obviously building a good squad and added a few new signings just before the game.

"I thought we were maybe the better team for 80 minutes and from the penalty things changed.

"We did well to get 1-0 up and had a chance to go two up and unlucky not to score again; and I thought their player should have got a second yellow which would have made it easier to see it out

"We were exposed trying to get the goal back at 2-1 when John Tennant got the red card; to me there were so many decisions which went against us on the day.

"It was a cracking goal for us to take the lead and to me it was a goal worthy of winning the game

"Stuart Faulds had taken the free kick, and Stuart has played into Simon McBryde, and he has played it round to David Ramsay who has finished it off brilliantly.

"To not see it out was disappointing but I don't think that is all down to our players.

"I thought the first half we worked really hard - we had to stop Clydebank and restricted them to only one chance which Jamie saved, we were pressing well.

"I thought the ball was going by for the second goal but suddenly Nicky Little managed to hook it home.

"I thought Clydebank were doing well to keep us at 0-0 at the interval as we had showed some very good pressing play.

"It was not to be be on the day but after giving Clydebank such a good game, we should go into the Petershill game with great confidence and looking to get back to winning ways."
