Explosive experts were called to Fairlie shorefront this morning in response to an unknown object.
EOD and police raced to the scene on Bay Street around 9am following a report of a piece of metal on the beach.
Police later confirmed that explosive experts said the item was not dangerous and removed it as a precaution.
The Ministery of Defence has been contacted for further details.
