The Brisbane Centre in Largs is to be the new home of the Men's Shed - but what about the history of the building which was built a way back in 1815?
It has served a number of purposes from a church to a library, and even a roller skating venue.
The Brisbane Centre in Bath Street opened in 1816 and was erected following public subscription at a cost of £2000.
Originally called Bath Hall, it was a bath house with hot and cold baths and a salt water spray and also contained a coffee room and spacious reading room, which could be used for meetings.
The charges were 1s 6d for a hot spray bath, and 1s for a cold one. The yearly subscription was £1 1s.
It later became partly an office for solicitor and one-time Provost David Harper.
Part of it became the Green Shutters tearoom which is now Buena Onda owned by Sara Nardini.
As well as one being a dance hall and roller-skating rink, the Brisbane Centre was the local branch of the Toch H during the second world war before going on to become the town"s library up until the 1980s.
In the 1990s, it was used by local bands for gig nights, youth clubs, and even dog training classes.
In more recent years, it was a popular seaside venue for Largs Players Comedy Theatre, Largs Spiritualist Church, and an OIR arts group.
