Padel players from Largs and West Kilbride have been selected to star in a UK wide tournament which starts this weekend.

Derby will host the first ever Four Nations Super Seniors Championship - with Andrew Boyle from Largs, Sonya Hughes, and John Byrne, both from West Kilbride taking part. Angela McGlynn from Ayr will be teaming up with Sonya.
The quartet of players will play for Scotland - and are members of West of Scotland padel club.

Sonya said: "I have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to run marathons all around the world . Having never played racket sports, I was introduced to padel tennis whilst on holiday in Spain a few years ago, from the moment I tried padel I was instantly hooked.

"I am looking forward to representing our Scotland team with my padel partner Angela McGlynn."

John said: ""My first experience of padel was in Spain about 10 years ago and straight away knew I’d found a brilliant new sport .

"I am currently doing my LTA course as want to enhance the game here in Scotland to help anyone to have the same enjoyment in the game as I have since embarking on my Padel journey.

"The game has everything. It is friendly, social, competitive with the chance to meet new friends wherever you play. Vamos!"

The four home nations of England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland will compete in age categories from over-45 to over-60 and will be for both male and female players.

A full weekend of competitive matches will be taking part in the 'historical event'.
