Weekly football columnist George Wall gives his reflections on this week's action

Petershill were well beaten by Largs - it was a great result and performance from Thistle who are really hitting their stride.
Keep looking up the table.

The return of Will Sewell has brought a buzz to the club as has the announcement of the new sponsors. Expectations of Will will be huge, can he live up to those expectations ? No pressure Will.
Beith continue their good form in the league and remain at the top after their 2-0 win over Darvel. Can they stay there ? If they do win it as they are not licensed they cannot go into the Lowland League play off. So much for the pyramid.
One other thing that I noticed in the league was that Auchinleck Talbot who are still very much in contention have six games in hand to Beith and they actually have nine games in hand to Petershill who have played the most amount of games.
One of the big items mentioned when the “Juniors” moved into the pyramid and all the teams became “seniors” was that the fixtures would all be planned in advance and supporters would know what was happening. Does not look like that to me. In any other senior league are a club nine games behind another ?
Rangers v Celtic cup final - what a bore that was. For me neither team turned up and it was such a poor spectacle. Rangers also brought in players in January who I guess are there to improve the team so what does Michael Beale do, he has them on the bench . I did not understand that one . Celtic not great on the day either but they outworked Rangers and were deserving winners.
In England Man Utd v Newcastle Utd in their League Cup Final with Man Utd winning their first trophy in six years and it looks like they could be getting back to what is expected of them. I like the look of Casemiro and Martinez and have they eventually found a manager in Ten Hag that can follow Sir Alex Ferguson? A much better game than the Scottish final.
In both cup finals the good news was there was no VAR controversy.
In the Champions League last week there was a great game, Liverpool v Real Madrid. I don’t think anyone expected that score line, 5-2 to Real. In the RB Leipzig v Man City one thing I could not get my head around was that Pep never made a substitution in the 1-1 draw. With the squad he has I would have thought some change would have been made. Seemed a strange one. In his league game at the weekend he made five subs.
