RESIDENTS of a Largs care home celebrated at a triple birthday bash for three inspiring ladies - with over 280 years between them.

There was cake, games and entertainment as former Millport lady Mabel Graham marked her 107th birthday at Hutton Park on Greenock Road.

Fellow resident Isabella Jarvie turned 93, with Maire Macffrey blowing out the candles as she reached 83.

Carla Silveria, activities coordinator at the care home, says Mabel has been a much-loved face around Hutton Park for over a decade following a life on Cumbrae which began in 1916.

She said: “Mabel is originally from Millport and lived there all her life.

“She married young and her husband passed away many years ago without them having any children.

"She has two sisters and six of her family members were at the party which was fantastic.

“Mabel has been living with us since December 2010, and to this day Mabel is still in fabulous form.

“She is full of kindness, still smiling and always talking about her lovely life in Millport before she came here.

“She is currently doing very well and still enjoys playing games and chatting with the other residents.”

Carla says the three-way birthday party was a huge success, with the highlight of the day Mabel's card from the King.

She explained: “Mabel and Isabella’s birthday’s were on the Saturday and Maire was on the Sunday, so we always celebrate the three of them together.

“We had cakes, cards, a little buffet for relatives and home members and a fantastic singer who entertained us all.

“Mabel got a card from the King and Queen Consort which she was so pleased to receive. Her face just lit up when she opened the envelope.

“We put out a call on social media for cards and we got a great response from the public, with lots being sent to the home.”
