Major roadworks are taking place on the A737 between Largs and Glasgow over the next two nights.

Work will take place between St James and Linwood and between Johnstone and Howwood.

The work includes resurfacing, traffic loop installation, central reservation improvements, and other essential repairs on the A737 southbound carriageway.

This work will take place on Monday March 6 and Tuesday March 7, between 8pm and 6am each night. Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Wednesday  March 8.

This scheme will benefit around 16,300 vehicles using this route each day.

The work will be carried out using overnight road closures and signed diversions will be in place.

There will also be closures of the Johnstone southbound on-slip and the Kilbarchan southbound off-slip.

Traffic will be diverted at Barrochan Road to follow High Street, Thorn Brae, Thornhill and Beith Road to re-join the A737 at Howwood.

There will also be lane closures on the M8 westbound from Junction 27 through to Junction 28, which will lead to a total closure of the Junction 28A off-slip.

The M8 westbound Junction 27 on-slip and the Junction 28 westbound off-slip will remain open.

Additionally, there will be a lane closure on the A737 northbound between Linwood and St James.

Traffic will be diverted at St James Interchange to follow the A726, A761, A789 Main Road and Linwood Road to access Linwood, or B787 Beith Road to re-join the A737 at Howwood.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
