MSP Kenneth Gibson said: "I greatly enjoyed speaking to Christine Bell, CEO of Cycling Without Age Scotland (CWAS), a pioneering charity which provides free rides unique trishaws for the elderly and people with mobility issues.

"Following a successful pilot scheme in Falkirk, the Scottish Government now provides £300,000 annually to CWAS to fund for volunteer disclosure checks, training, insurance and licensing.

"Cycling Without Age works with communities and partners to roll the project out across Scotland in areas and settings where it will have the most impact. This includes North Ayrshire where there are two trishaws in Cumbrae and one in Fairlie

"Local community groups raised the £10,000 or so to buy each trishaw and Largs will be the next community to get one."

The aim of Cycling Without Age is to enhance and enrich lives by giving elderly and disabled people access to the beautiful outdoors denied to many people simply because of age or limited mobility.
