A STAR Largs table tennis player was given a nod in the Scottish Parliament thanks to Cunninghame North MSP Kenneth Gibson.

The SNP MSP lodged a motion congratulating Nathan Hogg on being named the under-16 boys Scottish schools champion.

The 16-year-old is a regular at Largs Table Tennis Club and the title is the latest in a string of accolades for the youngster.

Nathan is also a member of the Scotland National Squad and attends regular training camps at Inverclyde Sports Centre.

The motion was read out at Holyrood, and was supported by a host of other MSPs from different parties.

It read: “That the Parliament congratulates Nathan Hogg, from Largs, on being named the Under 16 Boys Scottish Schools Champion in table tennis at the 2023 combined Scottish Primary and Secondary School Championships in Perth.

“Considers that the schools competition is a major event in the Scottish table tennis calendar, with four players from each region qualifying through to the finals.

“Understands that Nathan plays for Largs Tennis Club and attends regular training camps at Inverclyde Sports Centre.

“Is aware that Nathan will now represent Scotland at an international tournament in Ireland, before contesting the Scottish National Championships, which he will enter in the senior men and junior boys competitions, and wishes Nathan all the best in his future endeavours.”
