An additional overnight closure of a stretch of the A78 will take place tonight (Monday, April 3), roads bosses have announced.
Work between the Southannan and Hunterston roundabouts was due to have been completed by 6am this morning after a full weekend closure of the road was implemented, starting on Friday night and running through to Monday morning.
However, trunk road maintenance firm Amey now says it needs to carry out additional works - and that the same stretch of road will be closed from 8pm on Monday through to 6am on Tuesday, April 4.
A signed diversion will be in place throughout the closure periods.
Traffic heading north from the Three Towns and Irvine areas will be directed off the A78 at the Chapel Hill roundabout and on to the B780 to Dalry, then on to the B784 towards Largs and the westbound A760, rejoining the A78 at the Haylie Brae in Largs.
Traffic heading south from the Inverclyde and Largs areas will follow the same diversion route but in reverse.
Access will still be available to Clydeport from the north, and emergency vehicles will be allowed access throughout the work.
