I went to the Auchinleck Talbot v Kilwinning Rangers West of Scotland Cup semi final at the weekend.

Talbot won on penalties after it finished 1-1 in 90 minutes, but I thought it was a poor game for a semi final - really timid and uneventful.

On that showing, when Largs play them both later in the season, I see no reason why they can’t pick up all the points - if they play to their potential.

Talbot’s goalie Andy Leishman is so critical to them, making a few good saves. The Buffs are struggling with injuries, but from that game I did not see anything there to worry Largs. In the other semi final Clydebank beat St Roch’s 2-0.

I see Kilbirnie were beaten at the weekend by Whitletts, which puts a big dent in their promotion prospects. I would really like to see Kilbirnie back in the top division. It would be good to get the Largs v Kilbirnie games back on the fixture list.

Those fighting for the three promotion slots are Kilbirnie, Benburb, Drumchapel, Gartcairn and St Cadoc's - I really hope two of the three are Kilbirnie and Benburb.

In the WoSFL Premier League Largs are sitting in seventh place after 25 games. Beith still sit at the top and show no sign of not being there at the end of the season. In the SPFL Premiership it looks like the title is Celtic’s after beating Rangers. It's some job Ange has done there in his two seasons in charge. Can Michael Beale do the same at Rangers? Can he get them competing? Time will tell.

What about Hearts though, sacking Robbie Neilson. What is the expectation there? To me he seems to have put together a decent team. They might be going through a sticky spell at the moment, but doesn’t that happen to all teams? The manager merry go round starts again.

At the bottom of the table still all to play for. With Dundee United picking up three points against Hibs it really keeps the excitement going. Are St Johnstone going to be dragged into it?

At the top of the SPFL Championship it’s hotting up. Queens Park, who have been at the top for a while now, have been replaced by Dundee . Ayr United and Partick are still up there too. Morton and Inverness could maybe break into the top four - it looks like an exciting finish to that league.

Andy Robertson is claiming he was elbowed by a linesman at half time in the Liverpool v Arsenal game on Sunday. I wonder where that one will end up.

Finally, it's the Champions League this week and the interesting tie for me is AC Milan v Napoli - it could be a feisty one.
