A major section of the Largs promenade will be sealed off throughout the summer months as £3m sea wall reconstruction works take place.
Independent councillor Ian Murdoch told the News that the works are due to start on May 15.
He said: "The area of the prom - north of the RNLI slipway, will be closed off to the public throughout the summer months.
"The festoon lighting will be removed, as will the benches be removed, and the area will be fenced off.
"The railings will be taken away and the area will be backfilled at the end of the job.
"There will be no access to that area of the prom throughout the summer."
The council’s roads team, who works on various infrastructure projects, including the proposed £2.95 million Largs sea wall development to replace the existing structure, which was built in the '70s.
The new section is from the council owned RNLI Slipway to Aubery Crescent in Largs.
Recent inspections revealed that it is deteriorating and becoming increasingly unstable in places due to the battering all year round from the sea.
The project will see the replacement of the existing seawall along the northern seaward section of the promenade in Largs Bay, between Aubery Crescent and the RNLI slipway.
