A replica of the iconic Waverley paddle steamer is just one of the models on display at a major exhibition later this month.

The free Ship Ahoy heritage event returns to the Scottish Maritime Museum on Irvine’s harbourside on Saturday, April 22.

From 10am to 5pm, visitors of all ages can enjoy a collection of more than 30 model steamers and historic vessels.

Everyone can also take a walk down memory lane with postcards, photographs, artefacts and books on show by a host of maritime and shipping organisations.

Other highlights include a rare opportunity to tour the Museum’s Scottish Boatbuilding School workshops and see vessels under restoration as well as chat to Irvine Harbourside Men’s Shed.
