A talented young Largs actress is set to hit the professional stage for the second time after landing a role in Carmen in its Scotland-wide tour.

Largs Primary pupil Nuala Cameron-Finn, 11, landed a dream role in Les Misérables in the Glasgow leg of the hit UK tour in 2021, and has now secured her second professional show.

Nuala will be part of the children’s chorus of just ten talented youngsters for Carmen’s 15-performance run across the country.

Mum Lynn reveals Nuala wanted to be involved in the show straight away, and smashed her audition to secure a coveted place.

She said: “Her agent had sent her the audition for Scottish Opera’s Midsummer Night’s Dream back in 2021 but she couldn’t do it as rehearsals conflicted with Les Mis.

“When we saw that they were auditioning for a children’s chorus for Carmen then she really wanted to go along.

“We applied and she was lucky enough to get called back for a workshop which she says she really enjoyed.

“Then she heard the fantastic news that she had got the part, joining six boys and four girls as part of the chorus.”

Lynn revealed Nuala is now set to hit the road for the performances across the country, as well as star in the next series of hit show Outlander.

She explained: “She is part of the children’s chorus who appear for the last 20 minutes in the show’s finale.

“Carmen is a tour so she will be in 15 performances across four theatres in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and Aberdeen.

“It’s her second professional job on stage, although she has appeared in a radio advert across Scotland for Bank of Scotland with her brother Cormac recently.

“She also will be appearing as an extra in series seven of Outlander which we are all extremely excited about.”

Lynn admits that although Nuala needs to juggle her show commitments with school and other activities, she is still determined to have a future career on the stage.

She added: “She has managed to juggle her other commitments a little bit – but she couldn’t audition for a part in Largs Youth Theatre’s production of Frozen Jr at Kelburn Castle.

“However she is still rehearsing with all her friends and is looking forward to being in the ensemble for at least some of the shows.

“Largs Primary School and her teachers are always very accommodating and she can get work to take on tour if needed, although she will miss her friends.

“She does want to perform professionally in musical theatre as a career but she also wants to be a writer of books and shows so she is aiming high.

“As long as she still enjoys it then we are always happy to support her.”
