Largs Thistle boss Stuart Davidson says he wants another top performance from his side as they face up to a formidable challenge tonight (Tuesday) at home to Auchinleck Talbot.

Talbot are chasing cup honours again this season and have won their last three league matches - but Largs have their own hopes of finishing high up the league, and are looking to get their first victory over Auchinleck since 2011.

Largs have only one real injury concern in Connor McGoldrick with a groin strain, while Simon McBryde was sent off during the impressive 4-1 win over Hurlford on Saturday.

Davidson said: "We are coming off a very good performance against Hurlford United which builds our confidence going into tonight's clash.

"It is another opportunity for the players to improve on their performance

"We have to worry about us and not worry about Auchinleck and look to finish as high up the table as possible.

"Talbot in the last couple of games have scored three and four, and have really good forwards who will hurt you with a lot of pace, and in midfield they will battle, and defensively they have become more solid.

"We have just got to think about ourselves and we just want to keep improving with this good team that we have.

"Honestly the attitude of the players is spot on on the pitch and at training, and it is great seeing them get their rewards."

Largs currently sit seventh in the West of Scotland Premier Division with only five league games remaining, while Auchinleck, in fourth position, are gearing up to face Clydebank in the Indigo Comms West of Scotland Cup final on Friday evening.

Talbot have won their last three league games, beating Cumnock at Beechwood Park and defeating Arthurlie home and away in the space of four days, scoring nine goals and conceding none.

But Thistle themslves have been on good form with recent victories over Troon, Hurlford, Petershill, Arthurlie and Irvine Meadow, with their only defeat coming against Darvel.

Tonight's clash at Barrfields kicks off at 7pm.
