A Largs business is the (ice) cream of the crop after being given top billing with a five-star award from Visit Scotland.

Geraldo's in the Main Street, run by local business entpreneur Toni Dawson, has been based in the town centre for 20 years.

Toni said: "We are delighted to announce that we've retained our five-star rating from the lovely folk at VisitScotland.

"It's fantastic to see all the hard work and dedication of our wonderful wee team recognised in this way."

Geraldo's is Ayrshire's first and only five star tourist shop.

Family-run, it produces award-winning ice cream on site and specialises in handmade chocolates, premium spirits, gift hampers and a range of unique and unusual gifts that change throughout the seasons.

Geraldo's also hosts popular whisky, rum and cocktail tasting events on Saturdays throughout the summer.

Toni added: "Ice cream has always been a massive part of our family with my mum starting her own ice cream business in the 60s, followed by family-run enterprises across Ayrshire, Falkirk and Edinburgh within the leisure and licensed trade industry.

"In March 2000, I seized the opportunity to open my own shop in Largs, and have never looked back."

Formerly known as Sugar and Spice, the business was re-launched as Geraldo's in 2016 in memory of Toni's late father.
