The Cumbrae Coastguard Rescue Team is urging local water users to mark their equipment with their personal details.
The organisation says that around 30 per cent of callouts to personal watercraft are to those that appear abandoned or have come adrift, but the owner is found perfectly safe.
Watercraft users are urged to mark their kayak, canoe, paddleboard or tender with their details to ensure coastguard crews can contact them quickly if required.
