A POPULAR pub in West Kilbride is hosting its second Real Ale Festival later this month.

The Twa Dugs in Main Street held its inaugural event in July last year, and the event was such a success with regular and new punters that a 2023 version will take place next weekend.

This year's festival will run from Friday, May 12 to Sunday, May 14, with local ales on offer as well as some from further afield.

The pub will have live music on the Friday and Saturday night, and are also bringing back their famous nachos.

The festival is being supported by the Ayrshire and Wigtownshire Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

Vice-chair Ian Middleditch is urging locals and visitors alike to head to the pub for a taste of some real ale.

He said: “CAMRA applauds and supports the efforts of publicans who actively offer a real choice of beer to customers, not just the narrow range promoted by the big brewers.

“Not all drinkers appreciate, nor like, highly processed carbonated beer but prefer the more robust flavours and variety of naturally produced real ale.

“CAMRA members will be on hand throughout the festival to answer any questions customers may have, and members are also helping to source new beers for customers to try.

“There are many different ale styles and interpretations of them available which gives real ale drinkers fantastic choice.”

New flavours on offer at the festival will include Matlock Best Bitter, Dark Flagon Rum Porter, and Blonde Vixen.
