The company behind the planned high-voltage cable manufacturing facility at Hunterston has appointed a new CEO.

Ian Douglas will head up XLCC, as it starts work on the Hunterston site that will manufacture and install subsea cables across the globe.

The new CEO has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the subsea cable industry, and joins XLCC from Global Marine Group.

Ian said: “I am delighted to be joining XLCC to guide the team through a significant period of growth and evolution.

“As the business continues to build and serve clients as a leading manufacturer and operator, I am ready and eager to be at the forefront.”

Alan Mathers, project director at XLCC, added: “Ian Douglas’ impressive experience will be vital in taking XLCC to the next level.

“Ian’s extensive knowledge and passion for the sector will allow the business to transform the sector as we know it.”
