Campaigners fighting to restore season tickets on the Largs to Cumbrae ferry route held a crunch meeting with the transport minister on Tuesday.

Angus Campbell and Alex Morton from the Cumbrae Ferry Committee held an online summit with Kevin Stewart MSP and officials from Transport Scotland.

Islanders are fighting to get the tickets reinstated, claiming that residents will be forced to pay a huge price increase when travelling daily.

Angus said: “The positives from the meeting are they didn’t say no outright, and the minister committed to revisit the issue within a short period, although he didn’t commit to a date.

“He talked several times about the big picture and looking across the whole network, which could be inferred that they don’t want to deliver island specific solutions.”

Transport Scotland say that a wider fares policy will be considered as part of the Islands Connectivity Plan and future fares options will be considered through that process.
